Things you should know about visiting Ka'Kabish
The archaeological site of Ka'Kabish is located on private property and is therefore not open to the public year-round. Visitors travelling to Belize and touring the site of Lamanai are welcome to visit during the field season when the archaeologist are on site (please see Field Work Opportunity page for current dates).
The site offers visitors the chance to view a ruin prior to excavation and consolidation. Visitors are recommended to wear sturdy hiking shoes, long pants, and to bring plenty of water and bug spray with them. Nature lovers may also want to bring binoculars as the site is home to a variety of birds, butterfies and other animals.
WARNING: As the site is not developed extra care must be taken to avoid snakes which are numberous on site. Climbing the structures or entering the looters' trenches is strongly advised against as they are unstable and highly dangerous.
